icarus the son of daedalus
daedalus created the wings that
icarus wears on his back in an
attempt to fly towards the sun but the
heat’s too much igniting the feathers
in the end the wax did not hold out
icarus descending in free fall
straight into the depths that are hades

and now this brave young man is plummeting below the earth
to be indefinitely trapped inside the underworld

i try to fly into the sky

icarus was over ambitious
ending up in the underworld
where torment and insanity greet him
decades spent with working on new wings
finally succeeding in his quest
managing to escape from this hell that
held him down for far too long now
on to the sisters of fate
